Les and Angela have picked up quite a lot of beer mats at the local pub! They are all circular and identical in size. After tossing a coin to determine who will decide the order of play, the two of them will take turns to place mats on the rectangular table between them, such that the mats do not overlap each other or hang over the edge of the table. The winner will be the last one who is able to put down a mat.
Should the winner of the toss choose to go first or second? How can this player then plan to win the game?
